Temporary Part-Time Archive Assistant

Hours: 15 hours per week, not to exceed 26 weeks

Hourly Rate: $15/hour

The Molly Brown House Museum supports students and emerging professionals with valuable museum experience. The Museum aims to provide the Archive Assistant with an opportunity to expand their skillset and find new opportunities in the field of public history and museum studies.

The Archive Assistant position is a non-exempt, part-time, temporary position scheduled for 15 hours/week. This position is for immediate hire and training will be provided. The position will terminate after 26 weeks of employment, or on December 31, 2020. The rate of pay is $15.00/hr.

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

The Archive Assistant will assist the Curator of Collections on reorganization of the museum’s records and archives. The Archive Assistant’s primary responsibilities will be focused on archival tasks including:

Filing and organizing institutional records and archives using best museum practices.
Scanning and photographing documents and archives.
Labeling and rehousing records and archives using best museum practices.
Researching documents including other institutions’ archives.
Working with Collector Systems web-based collections database.

Necessary Qualifications:

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to use basic technical equipment such as iPad cameras and scanners.
Research skills both online and within libraries and archives.
Ability to self-manage and stay on task, while working well with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience researching within museum or library archives.
Knowledge of archival organization within museums or libraries.
Experience working with a collections database.
