Museum Aide I – Centennial Village Admissions

Salary : $12.32-$13.29

Job Summary:
The Museum Aide – Visitor Services Coordinator is a seasonal position working May through September on Fridays and Saturdays between the hours of 9:00 am – 4:30 pm, with the possibility of additional hours to support special events and programming. The aide’s primary function is to perform admission and gift shop sales, assist with opening/closing responsibilities, and to clean/sanitize highly trafficked areas on a regular rotation. Additional duties include cash handling and financial reporting. This position reports to the Curator of Historic Sites.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
-Demonstrated excellence in customer service
-Ability to adapt verbal and visual communication to diverse audience groups
-Follow written and verbal instructions, policies, and procedures
-Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
-Knowledge of basic accounting and cash handling

Essential Functions:
-Serve as receptionist answering the main telephone number and assist the public by answering their questions
-Use Point of Sales system to complete admissions and gift shop transactions
-Unlock/lock historic buildings, turn on/off exhibit lights, set up/break down interpretive stations
-Clean/Sanitize highly trafficked areas on rotation
-Perform daily cash counts for deposit
-Work independently as well as with others

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
-Frequent and heavy interaction with museum visitors
-Primarily occupies a stationary position at desk
-May be required to move and transport merchandise and equipment
-Frequent use of computers and Point of Sale system
-Must communicate with site visitors in person, and answer telephone calls
