Position Purpose
Position is responsible for reporting on and analyzing museums financial condition. Essential duties include: Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the museums internal and external financial statements, tax returns, and other required reporting; Oversight and management of the Museums accounting system and reporting tools; Interpreting and complying with GAAP and IRS regulations; Timely completion reports and schedules for the annual audit; and management of restricted net assets and contributions.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
 Preparation and review of the monthly internal financial statements and contributed revenues reporting
 Quarterly alignment reporting with Exhibition, Learning and Engagement, and Publications teams
 Quarterly restricted and designated fund account reconciliation and activity reports
 Prepares quarterly Finance Committee reporting packet including supporting documentation
 Annual preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for not-for-profits including footnote disclosures
 Prepares and files annual IRS information tax return and other statutory returns
 Generation of SCFD and AAMD reports
 Annual government reporting on indirect cost rate, federal grants, and if necessary OMB audit
 Annual review, application, and recording of revenue and expense allocation process to ensure proper financial and tax reporting
 Serves as internal resource for the Development team for guidance on recording, reporting and utilization of donor restricted and endowment funds
 Oversight and maintenance of the Serenic accounting system and Jet reporting tool
 Prepares and files annual retirement plan 5500s and other related reporting
 Analyzes general ledger net asset classifications and activity to ensure compliance with GAAP
 Assists in the development and analysis of the annual budget
 Monthly recording and tracking of budget adjustments
 Manages the use of restricted funds for operational purposes in accordance with the approved budget
 Reviewing, interpretation, and implementation of new IRS regulations and GAAP standards
 Support the Denver Art Museum Foundation accounting and reporting activities
 Key partner in management of annual city operating and capital appropriation process
Other Duties/Responsibilities
 Prepares financial information for grant proposals and ad hoc reports
 Preparation of reports for the Museums annual report
 Manages Museum funds for art acquisitions
 Critical partner in the development and preparation of the annual SCFD report
 Other duties as assigned

Education or Formal Training
 4-year bachelor’s degree in business with a focus in accounting or finance
 Certified public accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate preferred
Experience
 5+ years of accounting or finance experience with a preference for experience within a not-for-profit organization
 Experience working with and managing accounting systems. Serenic system and/or Jet reporting experience is preferred
 Experience with financial reporting and regulatory requirements with a preference for experience within a not-for-profit organization

Hiring range: $66,000 – $75,000 DOQ
