Colorado Wildfires – Colorado Cultural and Historic Resources Task Force

Hello – please excuse cross-postings. Messages will be sent to multiple lists to gather information as quickly as possible.

The Colorado Cultural and Historic Resources Task Force (CHR-TF) works with the state’s emergency management office to support museums, libraries, and archives during and after a disaster. For cultural institutions and sites directly impacted by fires and their evacuations, we will work to contact them to offer support and evaluate available assistance.

If you know of cultural and historic resources that might be threatened by the current fires, please forward their location, situation, and contact information to CHRtaskforce@gmail.com. We will share location information with State Emergency Operations, who are coordinating the firefighting efforts, and we will try to contact the collection personnel to identify their needs. Today’s rapidly growing fires around the state are of great concern and may have put those in the surrounding areas on evacuation or pre-evacuation alert.

As the CWAM Emergency Preparedness Chair and the liaison to the CHR-TF, I am here to assist your institution. Please route any questions related to the current disaster situation to me through CHRtaskforce@gmail.com.

Thank you for your assistance and stay safe,

—
